Answer:

1. Phosphorus in soil originates from (white arrows):

- plant residue,

- animal manures and biosolids

- atmospheric deposition (dust)

- mineral fertilizers

These sources all add to the phosphorus found in soil in both organic or inorganic forms.

2. Phosphorus from soil is released to (red arrows):

- organic phosphorous through:

-->plant uptake in the form of soluble P. This soluble form has several of its own sources such as primary minerals, mineral surfaces, secondary compounds etc.

--> immobilization where microorganisms convert and absorb inorganic P

- phosphates in solution through:

-->runoff and erosion

-->a small portion though leaching

Which molecule is a first messenger but not a second messenger
k0ka [10]

Answer:

Hormones act as first messenger but not as second messengers.

Explanation:

Second messenger act as signaling molecule which are secreted in response to various biological signals generated by first messenger such as hormones,neurotransmitters etc.Second messengers include various bioactive molecules such as cyclic AMP(cAMP),cyclic GMP(cGMP),inositol triphosphate(IP3),diacylglycerol(DAG),calcium ions(Ca2+) etc.

         Hormones are extracellular signaling molecules whereas second messengers are intracellular signaling molecules.

Which type of macromolecule makes up the capsid of a virus
Elenna [48]

Protein

Proteins are the most versatile macromolecules in living systems and they play important roles in essentially all biological processes. Protein makes up the capsid of a virus. The infective extracellular form of a virus known as a virion contains at least one unique protein synthesized by specific genes in the nucleic acid of that virus. In almost all viruses, at least one of these proteins forms a shell (called a capsid) around the nucleic acid. Certain viruses also have other proteins internal to the capsid. Some of these proteins act as enzymes during the synthesis of viral nucleic acids.
