12.5 because you add up all of the number of laps. Then you divide that from how laps there were.

A factory received a shipment of 11 hammers, and the vendor who sold the items knows there are 2 hammers in the shipment that ar
zhenek [66]

Question:

If a sample of 2 hammer is selected

(a) find the probability that all in the sample are defective.

(b) find the probability that none in the sample are defective.

Answer:

a Pr = \frac{2}{110}

b Pr = \frac{72}{110}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

n = 11 --- hammers

r = 2 --- selection

This will be treated as selection without replacement. So, 1 will be subtracted from subsequent probabilities

Solving (a): Probability that both selection are defective.

For two selections, the probability that all are defective is:

Pr = P(D) * P(D)

Pr = \frac{2}{11} * \frac{2-1}{11-1}

Pr = \frac{2}{11} * \frac{1}{10}

Pr = \frac{2}{110}

Solving (b): Probability that none are defective.

The probability that a selection is not defective is:

P(D') = \frac{9}{11}

For two selections, the probability that all are not defective is:

Pr = P(D') * P(D')

Pr = \frac{9}{11} * \frac{9-1}{11-1}

Pr = \frac{9}{11} * \frac{8}{10}

Pr = \frac{72}{110}

Pleasantburg has a population growth model of P(t)=at2+bt+P0 where P0 is the initial population. Suppose that the future populat
Salsk061 [2.6K]

Answer: In June 2097

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the model, to find how many years t should take for  P(t)=21100 we must solve the equation  0.9t^2+6t+14000=21100. Substracting 21100 from both sides, this equation is equivalent to 0.9t^2+6t-7100=0.

Using the quadratic formula, the solutions are t_1= \frac{-6-\sqrt{6^2 -4*0.9*(-7100)}}{2*0.9}=-92.21 and t_2=\frac{-6+\sqrt{6^2 -4*0.9*(-7100)}}{2*0.9}=85.54. The solution t_1=-92.21 can be neglected as the time t is a nonnegative number, therefore t=t_2=85.54.

The value of t is approximately 85 and a half years and the initial time of this model is the January 1, 2012. Adding 85 years to the initial time gives the date  January 2097, and finally adding the remaining half year (six months) we conclude that the date is June 2097.

Jon is looking into a 4250 vacation package that is offered for 25% off. there's a 9% resort fee added on to the total. How much
bazaltina [42]
When you want to find a percent of a number you do this:
given number/ 1   multiplied by   percentage/100

so in this question its a multiple step

start with finding 25 percent of 4250 which is= 1062.5
so thats how much the discount is so the amount after the 25% discount is:
4250-1062.5= 3187.5

then you have to add 9% due to fees
so you find 9% of 3187.5 which is= 286.875
so you add 286.875 to 3187.5 gives you= 3437.375 in total cost for the vacation package
