A scientist studied the relationship between the number of trees, x, per acre and number of birds, y, per acre in a neighborhood

. She modeled the relationship with a scatter plot and used the equation
y= 4 +6x for the regression line. What is the meaning of the slope and y-intercept of this regression line?

A. The slope is 6. This means that the average number of birds per acre in an area with no trees is 6. The y-intercept is 4. This means that for every 1 additional tree, she can expect and average of 4 additional birds per acre.

B. The slope 4. This means that for every 1 additional tree, she can expect an average of 4 additional birds per acre. The y-intercept is 6. The average number of birds per acre in an area with no trees is 4.

C. The slope is 6. This means that for every 1 additional tree, she can expect an average of 6 additional birds per acre. The y-intercept is 4. The average number of birds per acre in an area with no trees is 4.

D. The slope is 4. This means that the average number of birds per acre in an area with no trees is 4. The y-intercept is 6. This means that for every 1 additional tree, she can expect an average of 6 additional birds per acre.

The answer is C. Anything in a linear equation with an x behind it is the slope. The slope indicates that she can expect 6 additional birds per acre. They-intercept is 4. The y-intercept tells us how many birds she has seen before in a area of  no trees is 4

The answer is C. Slope is always after x and y intercept is the data when x is 0

The area of the rectangle shown is 24 square inches. how much longer is its length than its width?
Lina20 [59]
If one length is 6in, the other would be 4, since 6×4 is 24, which is the area of the rectangle. The length is 2 longer than the width, 6-4=2.

If your starting salary is $35,000 and you receive a 6% increase at the end of every year, what is the total amount, in dollars,
aksik [14]

The starting salary is $35,000.

Salary is increased by 6% at the end of every year.

Nos of years worked = 16 years

Total salary earned in 16 years is given by An * (( 1+i )^n - 1 ) / i

Where, An = Present Salary = $35000

i = Increase in salary per year = 6% = 0.06

n = number of years = 16

= 35000 * ( 1.06 ^16 - 1 ) / .06

= 35000 * ( 2.54035 - 1 ) / .06

= 35000 * 1.54035 / .06

= 898538

Total earnings in 16 years is $ 898538
