Answer: b) Both those in Salem and those accused of Communism were subject to jail time.

Explanation: The witch hunt in Salem gave place to executions and imprisonment of hundreds of people. They were accused of witchcraft for any unusual behavior and were not allowed to have a proper legal assessment in court. As a consequence,  the verdicts were set unfairly by the judges. Time after, the House Un-American Activities Committee started investigating communist activity, saying it was “witch hunt.” as well. Therefore, anyone who had been rumored to be involved in communism would be persecuted.

Which sentence is an example of faulty coordination?
Amanda [17]

Answer:

D Pennsylvania's oldest church is in Southwark, and it was opened in 1640.

Explanation:

The word "and" introduces two ideas and appears to indicate that they are separate. While all the other choices use words such as "but" and "so", indicating that the two clauses are logically related, this one does not. However, the date the church was opened does closely relate to it being the oldest church. One would expect the word "for" rather than "and"...

I am not certain of this answer, but that is what I would imagine. I would eliminate B and C straightaway. Choice A seems to say that even though Philadelphia was founded later, its settlement Southwark was actually inhabited before.

Hope it helps :)

What type of clause is the underlined portion of the sentence? Last year, WHEN MY NEXT-DOOR NEIGHBOR FELL AND BROKE HER HIP, she
guapka [62]

Answer:

The underlined portion of the sentence is a Dependent Clause

Explanation:

A dependant Clause is one that can not state by itself to have a complete idea, it depends on a Main Clause to communicate something, "When my next-door neighbor fell and broke her hip" depends on the main clause since we do not know what happened to the next-door neighbor, besides one important characteristic of many dependant clauses is that they begin with a subordinating conjunction, in this case, the word "when".
