Answer:

percentage yield = 88.25%

Explanation:

Firstly, write the chemical reaction and balance the equation.

Potassium react with oxygen to produce potassium oxide.

K + 02 → K2O

Balance the equation

4K + 02 → 2K2O

The limiting reactant is K so the yield of potassium oxide can be calculated using grams for potassium.

atomic mass of K = 39.1g/mol

grams for 4 mole of potassium =  4(39.1) = 156.4 g

grams for 2 moles of K2O = 2( 39.1 × 2 + 16) = 188.4 g

If 156.4 g of K produces 188.4 g of K2O

6.92 g of K will produce ? gram of K2O

cross multiply

grams of K2O = 6.92 × 188.4/156.4

grams of K2O = 1303.72/156.4

grams of K2O = 8.33585677749

grams of K2O = 8.34 g

percentage yield = actual yield/theoretical yield × 100

actual yield = 7.36 g

theoretical yield = 8.34 g

percentage yield = 7.36/8.34 × 100

percentage yield =         736/8.34

percentage yield = 88.2494004796%

percentage yield = 88.25%

What is the specific heat capacity of a metal if it requires 177.5 J to change the temperatures of 15.0g of the metal from 25.00
Vikentia [17]

Answer:

The specific heat capacity of a metal is 1.31 J/g°C = C

Explanation:

A classical excersise of calorimetry to apply this formula:

Q = m . C . ΔT

177.5 J = 15 g . C (34°C - 25°C)

177.5 J = 15g . 9°C . C

177.5 J /15g . 9°C = C

1.31 J/g°C = C

How long of time in hours will it take to plate out 1.0 kg Ni from aqueous Ni2+ solution, if the electrical current is 102 A? wh
netineya [11]

Answer: 8.95 hours

Explanation:

Ni^{2+}+2e^-\rightarrow Ni

96500\times 2=193000 Coloumb of electricity deposits 1 mole of Nickel

1 mole of Nickel weighs = 58.7 g

Given quantity = 1.0 kg = 1000 g  (1kg=1000g)

58.7 g of Nickel is deposited by 193000 C of electricity

1000 g of Nickel is deposited by =\frac{193000}{58.7}\times 1000=3287904.6C of electricity

Q=I\times t

where Q= quantity of electricity in coloumbs = 3287904.6C

I = current in amperes = 102 A

t= time in seconds = ?

3287904.6C=102A\times t

t=32234.359sec

t=8.95hr      (1h=3600 sec)

Thus 8.95 hours it takes to plate out 1.0 kg Ni from aqueous Ni^{2+} solution, if the electrical current is 102 A.

The Axis Powers took these aggressive actions prior to the outbreak of World War II which include the invasion of Ethiopia, Manchuria, and the Rhineland.

Explanation:

Axis Powers: It was the coalition of Germany, Italy and Japan against the Allied Powers (the United States, the Soviet Union, Great Britain, and China) in World War II.

  1. In 1930, the Japanese took control of railway track in Manchuria (a region in China) and in 1931, the Japan attacked the Chinese army claiming that the Chinese soldiers sabotaged the railway.
  2. On 3 October 1935, Italy invaded the Ethiopia (former name: Abyssinia) in the leadership of Mussolini to expand its territories.
  3. Germany in the leadership of Adolf Hitler occupied the Rhineland in 1937 by making excuse that the area is hostile and dangerous for them.
