How did the scientific revolution affect the Catholic Church? Explain.
(At least 4 sentences)
romanna [79]

Answer:

Explanation:

The scientific revolution was the part of the Renaissance, and it is notable for a series of changes in society, education, and knowledge, which resulted in a string of new discoveries and new views on the world. Before the scientific revolution, the Church had the dominance over the learning, dictating who will be able to learn and what; yet, as a result of this period, knowledge and science were more available and widely distributed. Scientists had more democratic ideas about the world and society, which in the end resulted in the more humane views and laws. All of these circumstances weakened the Church and its impact on society.

The discoveries of the revolution questioned some of the preceding pieces of knowledge supported by the Church, most notably the idea that the Sun goes around the Earth. Nicolaus Copernicus was one of the first scientists who proposed heliocentric theory, and people started to realize the Earth revolves around the Sun. This idea challenged religious believes, and the Church was afraid people would lose faith and trust in God. All of this finally resulted in the loss of the Church’s complete dominance and change of some dogmas that were previously preached heavily.

While, of course, people still have faith and believe in God today, these events changed the complete sovereignty that the institution of the Church had previously, as well as some of Christianity's teachings.

Sources of social change a) cultural lag b)values and beliefs c) technology d) physical environment
Whitepunk [10]

Answer: All the options are correct.

Explanation:

A society is a group of people who share a culture, a physical space or a certain time. Social change occurs when something in the structure of society changes causing the interaction between the social group to change.

Among the factors that affect society is lag culture and technology, this change occurs when technology advances faster than cultural change so that culture changes to adapt as quickly as possible to technological change.

Also, the physical environment can produce a social change; in societies where there have been great physical changes (for example due to an earthquake), society changes as a means of adapting to changes in the environment.

Finally, the change of the values and beliefs of the social group can produce a social change, this has been observed after great social events, for example a war, which causes the values and beliefs to change greatly.

What central idea does wollstonecraft explicitly state in this passage? a lack of education will not make women care only about
Orlov [11]

The correct answer is A), a lack of education will not make women care only about household issues.

English writer Mary Wollstonecraft(1759-1797), was considered one of the first feminist as she always supported women's equality. She wrote a famous book on the topic called “Vindication of the Rights of Woman”, which made her a woman’s rights activist.

The concepts in her book created controversy because they were revolutionary for those years. For instance, in her book “Maria, or the Wrongs of Woman”, she declares that women had strong sexual desires and those desires not need to be suppressed.

Identify the true and false statements about the "underclass." True Statement(s) Drag appropriate answer(s) here It is extremely
Zielflug [23.3K]

Answer:

True Statement(s)

The underclass is in many ways disconnected from the rest of society.

It is extremely difficult for a member of the underclass to move out of it.

Incorrect Statement(s)

Geographically, the underclass is found mostly in extremely rural areas.

The underclass has shrunk in size over the last 25 years.

Explanation:

The concept of underclass bears many of the characteristics of earlier population conceptual frameworks at the lower tiers of the economic and social hierarchy. Charles Murray used the word underclass in 1984 to explain a populace of perpetual or prolonged poverty whose low-income status passes from one generation to another due to inherently dysfunctional behaviors. Recent researches indicate a fall in its size because of shortfalls in the number of census tracts with significant concentrations of dropout from high levels of receipt of social assistance.

Attributing bigoted opinions to sources other than prejudice and/or expressing biased attitudes in some "safe" areas but not pub
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer:

This is a part of modern racism.

Explanation:

Modern racism is a subtle form of racism, expressed in a more indirect way. It is still based primarily on prejudice but the individual carrying it out tends to be more indirect about it, such as avoiding going to places where he/she knows certain races will be, for example.

In this case, the bigoted opinions and expression of biased attitudes in safe areas but not publicly is a form of modern racism because it is not a direct form but rather indirect and subtle.
