The federal law that establishes the right to collective bargaining and limits the interference of management in the right of employees to have a collective bargaining agent is the National Labor Relations Act of 1935.

What is the National Labor Relations Act?

The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 is a key piece of American labor legislation that protects employees working in the private sector's ability to form unions, participate in collective bargaining, and conduct collective action like strikes. An important part of the law prohibited corporate unions.

By giving workers in private-sector companies the fundamental right to demand better working conditions and choice of representation without fear of punishment, the NLRA safeguards workplace democracy.

Employees have the right under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) to establish or join unions, take part in protected, organized actions to address or improve working conditions, or refrain from taking part in these activities.

Ball Bearings, Inc., faces costs of production as follows:
Travka [436]

Answer:

Q Fixed Variable Total Marginal Aver. Aver. Aver.

Costs Costs Cost Cost FC VC TC

0 100 0 100 - - - -

1 100 50 150 150 100 50 150

2 100 70 170 20 50 35 85

3 100 90 190 20 33.33 30 63.33

4 100 140 240 50 25 35 60

5 100 200 300 60 20 40 60

6 100 360 460 160 16.67 60 76.67

The firm's profit in this case is -$360.

True or False: This was a wise decision. ⇒ False

Depends on the situation and which costs are avoidable if the company shuts down operations. If it produces 4 cases, the losses reduce from -$100 to -$40, but the contribution margin is positive since revenues exceed variable costs by $60. But under the current price level, the company will not be able to generate profits unless it increases its sales price or decreases its fixed costs.

Vaguely remembering his introductory economics course, the company's chief financial officer tells the CEO it is better to produce 1 case of ball bearings, because marginal revenue equals marginal cost at that quantity.

At this level of production, the firm's profit is -$100.

True or False: This is the best decision the firm can make. ⇒ False

Accounting profit is maximized at 4 cases since marginal cost ($50) = sales price ($50). At this point the total profit is -$40.

What are the pros and con's for the arrive alive campaign?
Elena-2011 [213]
The Arrive Alive campaign was launched to prevent road accidents or at least lessen the instances of accidents due to drunk driving and reckless driving.

The advantages of this campaign are:

1. It promotes awareness among drivers to drive safely.
2. It educates drivers on the rules and safe acts when on the road.

The disadvantages of this campaign are:

1. It does not completely eliminate the risk of accidents due to drunk and reckless driving. It merely 'educates' the drivers about safe acts.
2. It still allows the drivers to drink and drive but at 'allowable alcohol level' which does not help at all.

In the end, the Arrive Alive campaign failed.

stiks02 [169]

Both Smith and Ricardo believed that, in a competitive market, product prices reflect "the cost of labor necessary to produce the products".

Answer: Option D

Explanation:

When there are a lot of manufacturers competing to provide the goods and services required for consumers, this is understood as "a competitive market". No single producer or customer can specify the market within a competitive market. It shares five traits: gain, diminishability, rivalry, exclusion, and rejectability. The wheat market is often drawn as an instance of a competitive market, as there are many manufacturers, and by increasing or decreasing its output, no single producer can impact the market price.
