Solution:

we are given with the system of equation:

x + y ≥ 4

2x + 3y < 12

we have been asked to find the graph representing the solution of the given system of equation.

To find the the solution of the given system of inequalities, we can draw the graph using a graphing calculator and thereafter , the point of intersection will give the solution of the given system of equation.

As we can see, the graph is intersecting at only one point at (0,4).

The given system of inequalities will have infinite number of solutions and it will fall in the region shaded with green.

A gift box is 14 inches long, 8 inches wide, and 4 inches high. How much wrapping paper is needed to wrap the gift box?
Mazyrski [523]
We will use the formula for finding the surface area of a rectangular prism.

Formula =

SA <span>= </span><span>2 </span><span>(</span><span>w</span><span>l</span><span>+</span><span>h</span><span>l</span><span>+</span><span>h</span><span>w</span><span>)</span>SA = 2 (8·14 + 4·14 + 4·8)
SA = 2 (112 + 56 + 32)
SA = 2 (200)
SA = 400

The gift box needs C) 400 in wrapping paper to wrap the gift box. <span />

Zack has been planting young trees in his garden. The maple tree that is 42 inches tall is growing 1 inch per month, whereas the
kolezko [41]

In 16 months, two trees will be of same height

The trees will be of 58 inches tall

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Let "x" be the number of months

<em><u>The maple tree that is 42 inches tall is growing 1 inch per month</u></em>

Thus, equation for maple tree is given as:

Maple tree : 42 + 1 inch (number of months)

Maple tree : 42 + x ------- eqn 1

<em><u>The oak tree that is 10 inches tall is growing 3 inches per month</u></em>

Thus, equation for oak tree is given as:

Oak tree : 10 + 3 inch (number of months)

Oak tree : 10 + 3x -------- eqn 1

<em><u>For two two trees to be equal in height, equate eqn 1 and eqn 2</u></em>

42 + x = 10 + 3x\\\\3x - x = 42 - 10\\\\2x = 32\\\\x = 16

Thus, in 16 months, two trees will be of same height

<em><u>What will that height be?</u></em>

Substitute x = 16 in any one eqn

10+3x = 10 + 3(16) = 10+48 = 58

Thus the trees will be of 58 inches tall
