I dont think it is acceptable because if thier daughter is trustworthy they should be trusted. The parents are just getting into thier daughters personal space. Talking from my perspective because the same thing happens for me. The parents just love the daughter very much and do not want anything to happen to her. Most parents have a difficult time prosessing that thier lirttle girl is growing up.
Act as if the world was a piece of paper rolled up where each end touched the other. then just pull them so they form a 2-D map.
