Answer:

At the 5% level of significance,  it is not reasonable to conclude that students at West Virginia sleep less than the typical American

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that according to a recent survey, Americans get a mean of 7 hours of sleep per night. A random sample of 50 students at West Virginia University revealed the mean length of time slept last night was 6 hours and 48 minutes (6.8 hours). The standard deviation of the sample was 0.9 hours.

n =50

Std error = \frac{s}{\sqrt{n} } \\=0.1273

Since sample std dev is only known, we can use t test.

H_0: \bar x = 7\\H_a: \bar x

(left tailed test at 5% level)

Mean difference = -0.12

Test statistic t = mean diff/std error = -0.9429

p value for t test with d f= 49 is 0.175

Since p>alpha we accept null H0

At the 5% level of significance,  it is not reasonable to conclude that students at West Virginia sleep less than the typical American

Which value of x makes the equation 8x + 38 = 2(11x + 5) true?
dangina [55]
8x+38=2(11x+5)
divide 2 from both sides
4x+19=11x+5
minus 4x from both sides
19=7x+5
minus 5 from both sides
14=7x
divide by 7
2=x

so x would be 2

1- Tickets cost £18.50 to a music gig. The band sells 189 tickets and the
Elden [556K]

Answer:

The answer is £ 496

Profit ( P) = Selling price (S) - Cost price ( C)

From the above question

Cost price = £3000

To find the selling price multiply the price of one ticket by the number of tickets sold

That's

Selling price = £18.50 × 189 = £3496

So now

Profit = £3496 - £3000 = £ 496

Hope this helps you

The formula for simple interest is I=prt solve the formula for t
Harrizon [31]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

t = i /(Pr)

Discussion:

i = Prt   =>     (divide both sides by "Pr")

i/(Pr) = (Prt)/(Pr)

        = (Pr)t/(Pr)

        = t                      (as (Pr)/(Pr) = 1)

Thank you,

Find the missing measurement using the given scale factor. B А scale factor from A to B = 1:7
oee [108]

Answer:

? = 49

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this we just need to understand that when A=1, B=7. So when the side for a is 7 that is basically multiplying A by 7 so we have to do the same to the B side. So when the B side is multiplied by 7 it would be 7*7 =49 so the ? is equal to 49 when that similar side is equal to 7.

This is all based on the fact that the two triangles must be similar triangles.
