Feudal lords and the Catholic church lost its power on 9 February 1849 when a new assembly was formed in Roman republic. On 18 February 1861, Victor Emmanuel gather the disputes of the parliament of Italy and the Parliament announced Victor Emmanuel as King of Italy. In 1878,  Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania got independence from Ottoman empire. Wilson presented the concept of self determination during first world war which was started in 1914 and ended 1918.
