A swine producer wants to know if the average weight of his pigs is different from the breed average of 230 lb. He selects a ran
Aloiza [94]

Answer: t= -1.60

Explanation:

Let \mu be the population mean weight of pigs.

As per given , we have

H_0:\mu=230

H_0:\mu\neq230

Sample size : n= 16

Sample mean =\overline{x}=220\ lb

Sample standard deviation : s=25\ lb

<em>Since the population standard deviation is not known so the test is a</em><em> t-test.</em>

Test statistic for population mean : t=\dfrac{\overline{x}-\mu}{\dfrac{s}{\sqrt{n}}}

t=\dfrac{220-230}{\dfrac{25}{\sqrt{16}}} (Substitute all the values.)

t=\dfrac{-10}{\dfrac{25}{4}}

t=\dfrac{-40}{25}=-1.60

Hence, the value of the test statistic needed to test the null hypothesis : t= -1.60

Why do you think the use of holistic treatments for animals is controversial?
maks197457 [2]
I'm not entirely sure why holistic treatments would be controversial in animals. Perhaps what makes them controversial is the fact that we tend to assume we know what makes them holistic and how they will be holistic for the animal - this isn't necessarily the case, as we can only make a good guess about it.

Explain what natural selection is and how it occurs
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

Answer:

Natural selection is when an animal adapts to their environment to survive and produces more offspring. It occurs when the animal isn’t thriving in their environment and they make adaptions to where they can survive.

Explanation:

An example of natural selection is, a bird used to have a really thick and short beak. But to have more access to food they adapted to their environment and now have a long and skinny beak.

Hope this helps :)
