George Washington was in charge of the Continental Army during America's fight for independence from Great Britain. The reason why America sought independence from Britain in the first place is because Americans despised monarchical rule and King George. To make Washington a king would have been extremely backwards and hypocritical.

Answer:

C) It incorrectly assumes that popularity equates to moral correctness.

Explanation:

A fallacy is an argument that is not correct but that might persuade people to believe it by appearing to be a good reasoning. According to this, the reasoning is fallacious in this statement because it incorrectly assumes that popularity equates to moral correctness. This is the answer because the statement indicates that as the reality is popular, it is not corrosive and decadent and this is an invalid argument because if a program is popular, this doesn't mean that it is morally correct. However, this may be an argument that people might believe.

The idiom "under the weather" means to feel ill. Why might this phrase be confusing to Waverly's mother?
Phoenix [80]

Amy Tan (author of the Joy Luck Club) has written an absolutely terrific piece on what a well educated daughter (Tan) thinks of her mother's "spirited" English. It is an essay that is a masterpiece of its kind.

She explains in detail why her mother's English and how it is written doesn't matter. Her mother has other qualities that her language emphasizes. What matters is how well her mother is able to express herself ignoring all the usual rules of syntax.

From Tan's description, I have to say that C is the best answer.

If the lady speaks only Chinese, the meaning of the phrase means absolutely nothing. It is just sounds. D is wrong.

B is possible, but it would not be true for every idiomatic phrase. So I wouldn't pick B.

A has the same problem as D. I would stick with C

Based on your knowledge so far what are the similarities between the novelist Mary Shelley, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Bram Sto
scZoUnD [109]

Answer:

All three of these famous writers wrote about gothic literature but their differences lie in their representation of that evil nature. Shelly and Stoker characterize their protagonists only on their evil nature while Stevenson's character has a two-in-one nature within himself.

Explanation:

Mary Shelley was the author of "Frankenstein", Bram Stoker wrote "Dracula" while Robert Louis Stevenson wrote "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". All three of them wrote their books based on the gothic genre of novel writing. Gothic literature is a literary form where the dark nature of human is focused more than the normal nature. Gothic form represents the dark and evil side of humanity that sometimes got forgotten.

While the similarity of the three writers may be in the genre of their books, their differences lie in their representation of that evil.

1. Stoker's protagonist has supernatural powers which makes him superior among the other characters, also giving him an upper hand in the situation. 2. Shelly's monster, on the other hand, was created and then deserted by his creator, thus making his actions a result of the master's abandonment and not entirely his fault.

3. Stevenson's character meanwhile is on a different level to the two protagonists. The character Dr. Jekyll was a good doctor and scientist who turns evil only when he became Mr. Hyde. He is an embodiment of two people in one body, thus making him a vessel of the good and evil nature of human in one entity.
