Area= length * width
72 = L* w
L> w
From the first equation
L = 72/ w
72/ w > w
Using cross product
W^2 < 72
W< square root of 72
The square root for 72 ~ 8.4
W = 8
72 = 8*L
L=9

Theo containers designed to hold water are side by side, both in the shape of a
OlgaM077 [116]

The percentage this empty space is of the entire volume is 26.12 % when rounded to the nearest tenth.

We have given that the shape of a

cylinder Container A has a diameter of 30 feet and a height of 18 feet.

diameter =30 feet and height =18 feet

Therefore

radius=\frac{d}{2} \\\\radius=\frac{30}{2} \ \\\\radius=15

What is the formula for volume of cylinder ?

volume =\pi r^2h

For cylinder A,

volume =\pi r^2h

volume =\pi (15)^218\\ \\V=12723.45 ft^{3}

Similarly for cylinder B,

h=19

radius

\frac{26}{2} =13feet

volume of cylinder B

volume =\pi r^2h\\\\volume =\pi (13)^2(19)\\\\volume =10087.65 feet^3

After pumping all of Cylinder  A into Cylinder B there will remain empty space in B

12723.45-10087.65=2635.8 feet^3

The percentage this empty space is,

of the entire volume is

\frac{2635.8}{10087.65} =0.261289

which is 26.12 %  when rounded to the nearest tenth.

Therefore,

The percentage this empty space is of the entire volume is 26.12 % when rounded to the nearest tenth.

2.2.PS-141You are running a fuel economy study. One of the cars you find is blue. It can travel 39miles on21241 gallons of gasol
svetoff [14.1K]
<h2>Answer:</h2>\begin{gathered} \text{Unit rate of blue car = 31}\frac{3}{5}mi\text{ per gallon} \\ \text{Unit rate of red car = 28 mi per gallon} \end{gathered}

The blue car has traveled the greater distance on one gallon of gasoline

<h2>Explanation:</h2>

The formula for calculating the unit rate is expressed as shown:

\text{Rate = }\frac{Distance}{\text{number of gallons}}

For the blue car

Distance = 39.5miles

Gallons of gasoline = 1.25 gallons

Get the unit rate:

\begin{gathered} \text{Unit rate = }\frac{39.5}{1.25} \\ \text{Unit rate = 3}1.6\text{ }miles\text{ per gallon} \end{gathered}

The unit rate of the blue car as a mixed fraction is 31 3/5 miles per gallon

For the red car

Distance traveled = 22.4 miles

Gallons of gasoline = 0.8 gallons of gasoline

Get the unit rate of the red car;

\begin{gathered} Unit\text{ rate = }\frac{22.4}{0.8} \\ \text{Unit rate = }28\text{miles per gallon} \end{gathered}

From the unit rates, we can see that the blue car has traveled the greater distance on one gallon of gasoline since its unit rate is greater than that of the red car.
