Answer:

c) pure water on the produce would put it in a hypotonic environment and keep the produce firm.

Explanation:

Ideally, in a natural environment, plants leafs remain fresh and firm looking by absorbing water from their natural environment. However, in a case where these vegetables have been removed from their natural environment, they have lost the ability to absorb water under natural conditions.

In order to keep the leaf cells of the vegetables firm and rigid, so they can look fresh and appealing, they have to be placed in a hypotonic condition i.e. an external condition with high concentration of water. To do this, a grocer in a supermarket will occasionally spray the vegetables with pure water to keep the vegetables' cell from drying out and hence lead to wilting, which would make the vegetables less appealing to customers.

If CPR is not performed, how many minutes will elapse before the brain becomes damaged from lack of oxygen?
attashe74 [19]
If CPR is not performed, C. 4 minutes will elapse before the brain becomes damaged from lack of oxygen.
One minute isn't enough time - you can even hold your breath for one minute without fainting. Some people can even do it for 2 minutes.
Ten minutes is too long - you would be long dead.

What property makes phospholipids ideal building blocks for cell membranes?
Papessa [141]

Answer:

They have hydrophilic heads and hydrophobic tails.

Explanation:

Phospholipid membranes are comprised of a chain of lipids. These typically are arranged in a bilayer; the hydrophilic lipid heads are polar, and face outwards, while the hydrophobic tails are polar facing inwards.

The membranes are selectively permeable, and only allow the movement of small, non-polar molecules through the bilayer.
