How did the industrial revolution start pollution
Sonbull [250]
The industrial revolution impacted the environment. The world saw a major increase in population, along with an increase in living standards. This led to the depletion of natural resources. The use of chemicals and fuel in factories resulted in increased air and water pollution and an increased use of fossil fuels. With factories typically being heat based and burning coals, toxic waste would be built up and ultimately dumped into nearby rivers. Thus creating the pollution of water and air.

What did Lincolns election as president convince Southerners that they had lost their voice in the
Katyanochek1 [597]

Due to the slavery debate, Northern support for the South began to wane in the 1850s. Lincoln's Republican party was able to take control of Congress and the White House in 1860 because of the Democratic Party's split into Northern and Southern sections. The South came to the realization that its partners in the Federal Government were no longer there.

The southern states opposed Abraham Lincoln's victory in the 1864 election. Lincoln was a Republican. Furthermore, the Republican Party was anti-slavery. Lincoln never expressed a desire to put an end to slavery in the South.

Lincoln was not on many southern ballots because there was no southern Republican Party to produce a ballot. States in the South were worried that Lincoln would abolish slavery. Radical southerners known as Fire Eaters called for southern independence in the 1850s if the Republican Party won the election.
