Create 2 eq’n, let V = vans and B= buses

1. 150 = 8v + 14b
2. b + v = 15

isolate one variable and substitute it in to an equation:

b = 15 - v

sub “b” into first equation above:

150 = 8v + 14 ( 15 - v)
150 = 8v + 210 - 14v
-60 = -6v
10 = v

sub “v” into equation 2

b = 15 - v
b = 15 - (10)
b= 5

there will be 5 buses and 10 vans to hold 150 students.

ICE Princess25 [194]

Answer:

4 is the largest number that is common to both 32 and 44.  Factoring it out looks like this: 4(8 + 11) = 4(8 + 11).  That's weird to me but all textbooks begin that process just that same way.

Ivan has cut 19 pieces of reinforcing bar (rebar) that are each 1.14 meters long. What is the total length of the rebar used fo
madreJ [45]

Answer:

The total length of rebar used is  21.66 meters.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Ivan had cut a reinforcing bar in 19 pieces and length of each bar is 1.14 meters.

Number of pieces = 19

Length of each piece = 1.14

We need to find the total length of reinforcing bar.

To calculate the total length we will multiply number of pieces with length of each piece.

Hence,

Total length of rebar = Number of pieces × Length of each piece = 19\times1.14 = 21..66 m

Rounding to nearest hundred = 21.66 m

Hence the total length of reinforcing bar is 21.66 meters.
