<h3><u>Question:</u></h3>

Denzel earned money after school. He put 1/2 of this month's earnings into savings. He took the rest to spend at the amusement park. He spent 1/5 of this amount on popcorn and 3/4 of it on rides. What fraction of his earnings did he take to the park but not spend on rides or popcorn.

<h3><u>Answer:</u></h3>

\frac{1}{40} fraction of money not spend in amusement park

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Let "x" be the total earnings

He put 1/2 of this month's earnings into savings

\text{ savings} = \frac{1}{2} \text{ of } x

\text{ savings} = \frac{1}{2}x = \frac{x}{2}

He took the rest to spend at the amusement park

\text{ Remaining amount }= x - \frac{x}{2}\\\\\text{ Remaining amount } = \frac{2x - x}{2} = \frac{x}{2}

He spent 1/5 of this amount on popcorn and 3/4 of it on rides

\text{ Amount spend on popcorn } = \frac{1}{5} \times \frac{x}{2} = \frac{x}{10}

\text{ amount spend on rides } = \frac{3}{4} \times \frac{x}{2} = \frac{3x}{8}

<em><u>So the fraction of money not spend in amusement park is:</u></em>

⇒ Remaining amount - (Amount spend on popcorn + amount spend on rides)

\rightarrow \frac{x}{2} - (\frac{x}{10} + \frac{3x}{8})\\\\\rightarrow \frac{x}{2} - \frac{38x}{80}\\\\\rightarrow \frac{2x}{80} = \frac{x}{40}

Thus \frac{1}{40} fraction of money not spend in amusement park

This also 7th fgrade homework!!
harkovskaia [24]

Answer:

Down the left-hand column, the pattern is counting by 5's. Therefore, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25. Down the right-hand column, the pattern is counting by 4's. Therefore, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20. Thus, the ratios are:

5:4

10:8

15:12

20:16

25:20

In other words, the first line (5:4) is the base ratio. The second line multiplies the original values by 2, the third line by 3, the fourth line by 4, and the fifth line by 5.

What is h(x)=7+10x+x^2 written in vertex form?
Morgarella [4.7K]

Answer:

h(x) = (x + 5)² - 18

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

h(x) = 7 + 10x + x² = x² + 10x + 7

To obtain vertex form, use the method of completing the square

add/ subtract ( half the coefficient of the x- term )² to x² + 10x

h(x) = x² + 2(5)x + 25 - 25 + 7

      = (x + 5)² - 18 ← in vertex form

Mike has $25.00 to rent paddleboards for himself and a friend for 3 hours. Each paddleboard rental costs $3.75 per hour. Use the
avanturin [10]
<h3>It costs $ 22.5 for mike and his friend to rent paddle board for 3 hours</h3><h3>Mike has $ 2.5 remaining after rental</h3>

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given that,

Mike has $25.00 to rent paddleboards for himself and a friend for 3 hours

Each paddleboard rental costs $3.75 per hour

So there are two persons = mike and his friend

1 hour = $ 3.75

Therefore, for 3 hours:

3 \times 3.75 = 11.25

<em><u>Thus for two person:</u></em>

11.25 + 11.25 = 22.5

Thus it costs $ 22.5 for mike and his friend to rent paddle board for 3 hours

Remaining amount = 25 - 22.5 = 2.5

Thus Mike has $ 2.5 remaining after rental

Which linear equation has no solution? 5x+12=5x−7
soldier1979 [14.2K]

Answer:

Trying to solve this leads to an absurdity, so No Solution.

Step-by-step explanation:

5x+12=5x−7

Lets attempt to solve:

Subtract 5x from both sides

5x - 5x + 12 = 5x - 5x - 7

0 + 12 = 0 - 7

12 = -7

This is absurd so there is no solution.
