Then find the lowest common denominator (LCD) which in this case is 12 so multiply them both by fancy ones inorder for them to combine.
5/6 × 2/2 = 10/12
9/4 × 3/3 = 27/12
And now we can add them together.
10/12 + 27/12 = 37/12 = 3 and 1/12
