I do not agree with reducing the age allowed to vote.

Explanation:

There is a strong debate about the correct age that a person should be allowed to vote. On the one hand, many believe that teenagers, under 18, should be allowed to vote, as they are already part of society and may already have responsibilities. On the other hand, many people affirm that the reduction of age is not correct, since adolescents are easily manipulated and act, often, with a lack of rationality, which would harm the result of the elections.

Voting is an act that requires a lot of responsibility, critical thinking, rationality and self-awareness. This means that for a citizen to be allowed to vote, he must have his thinking fully constructed, being able to understand what socioeconomic problems the community he is inserted in, not allowing himself to be manipulated and understanding the responsibility of voting. Adolescents do not reach these characteristics, since they are in a phase of life, in which they have other priorities, act on impulse and influence and do not have the ability to reason politically.
