They have both large and powerful armies just that in different areas; Sparta Army was conformed of the best-trained soldiers and powerful warriors in the ancient times, and Athens have also an army as large as the Sparta Army, just that they were dominant in the navy; they had the largest and most powerful navy in the Ancient Greece. Finally, the two city states had a extremely large population of slaves.
