The fujiwara clan was a smart japanese clan that thru arranged marriages managed to gain control over the whole japanese empire, they married their daughters to different emperors in Japan, the japanese tradition stated that the offspring of a marriage should be educated in the wife´s household and should owe loyalty to his grandfather on his mom´s side. Eventually they lost power and in the 12th century the Kakamura shogunate established a feudal system where the private armies and the samurais gain power.
