Liberalism is the favoring of faster, more extreme (than conservatism, not quite radical) change in society. Liberalism tends to align with Democratic or left wing ideologies.
Arab spring was more political than economic in nature. People were dissatisfied with the government, its corruption and the general system, but less so with the state of the economy.
