Answer:

TURBINES

Explanation:

The invention of turbines in the 19th century brought about significant changes in the field of technology. These turbines were initially used in wind mills in order to generate electricity. They are also used in the dams now for the same purpose. The working principle of turbines in a windmill is very simple. The wind turbines are comprised of two or three propeller like blades and a rotor. The wind energy forces these blades to rotate around a rotor which is further connected to a main shaft. This main shaft then spins a generator in order to produce electricity.

Thus, the use of turbines in the 19th century led to the expanded use of hydroelectric power.

Okazaki fragments are formed on which strand?
Alecsey [184]

Answer:

The leading strand is continuously synthesized and is elongated during this process to expose the template that is used for the lagging strand (Okazaki fragments). During the process of DNA replication, DNA and RNA primers are removed from the lagging strand of DNA to allow Okazaki fragments to bind to.

23. From TOP to BOTTOM, what sequence labels would you 1 point
svet-max [94.6K]

Answer:

The sequence of event is as follows -

1. After heavy rains, nutrient-rich water enters the local aquatic environment, causing a series of events to occur within the ecosystem.

2. An algal bloom occurs.

3.  Algae consume the available nutrients and then begin to die oft.

4. Decomposers break down algae and increase in number

5. Decomposers increase oxygen consumption

6. Oxygen depletion, also known as hypoxia, is one result of runoff from over-fertilized lawns or farmland.

Explanation:

Whenever there is a heavy rainfall, runoff is generated from the nearby farmland and cropland. This runoff consists of essential soil nutrients from farmland which ultimately mixes with water bodies such as lake. In a standing water body such as lake, the water become nutrient enriched and the water plants grow uncontrollably thereby causing algal boom.

Algal boom further leads to overproduction and depletion of oxygen from water body. The overly produced algae die and deteriorate the water quality. Also the depleted oxygen create problem for aquatic other plants and animal species.

Hence, the correct order is as follows -
