However, there was also the increase in the production of food grains such as cereals, oil crops, horticulture, etc but this rise in production shows mismatch from country-to-country because in sub- Saharan countries food production has not registered the sustained increase over the last five decades. There still continues the food insecurity in several parts of the world and there is rising demand of food grains with increasing population in the world.
