Answer:

The key steps to urine formation have been outlined in the attached file (flow chart diagram). Key components highlighted.

Explanation:

GLOMERULAR FILTERATION

The kidney consists of NEPHRONS, which consist of a network of capillaries (surrounded by the Bowman’s capsule), called GLOMERULUS. Water and solutes are filtered from the blood in the capillaries into the capsule through a filtration membrane.

The HYPOTHALAMUS in the brain secretes VASOPRESSIN A.K.A ANTIDIURETIC HORMONE (ADH). The ADH passes through the PITUITARY GLAND into the bloodstream and serves to regulate the blood pressure and water levels the kidney absorbs.

REABSORB VITAL NUTRIENTS

While larger cells and proteins are retained in the bloodstream, glomerular filtrate (fluids) flows into the RENAL TUBULE where reabsorption of essential substances that may have escaped the membrane, are taken in through the convoluted tubule.

SECRETION AND EXCRETION

Waste ions are also passed into the renal tubule in a process called Secretion. UREA is also released into the blood stream and to the tubes, after being broken down by the LIVER. All waste mixes with the filtrate to form urine.

Urine is collected in a duct, and passed out of the kidney in the ureter and the excreted from the bladder.

Please help me with this question. Biodiversity needs to be maintained for the future of the human race.
Amiraneli [1.4K]

Answer:

What is biodiversity?

It is the variety of life on Earth, in all its forms and all its interactions. If that sounds bewilderingly broad, that’s because it is. Biodiversity is the most complex feature of our planet and it is the most vital. “Without biodiversity, there is no future for humanity,” says Prof David Macdonald, at Oxford University.

The term was coined in 1985 – a contraction of “biological diversity” – but the huge global biodiversity losses now becoming apparent represent a crisis equalling – or quite possibly surpassing – climate change.

More formally, biodiversity is comprised of several levels, starting with genes, then individual species, then communities of creatures and finally entire ecosystems, such as forests or coral reefs, where life interplays with the physical environment. These myriad interactions have made Earth habitable for billions of years.

A more philosophical way of viewing biodiversity is this: it represents the knowledge learned by evolving species over millions of years about how to survive through the vastly varying environmental conditions Earth has experienced. Seen like that, experts warn, humanity is currently “burning the library .

Match each part of Sammi's model to the bodily structure it represents. One bodily structure has already been labeled for you.
KiRa [710]

Answer:

corrugated cardboard tube - digestive tract

irregular surfaces on the corrugated tube - villi

pump - heart

Plastic tubing - blood vessels

Explanation:

The corrugated cardboard tube represents the digestive tract.  The give away was the presence of the irregular surfaces within the tubes. This is called the villi. The villi is responsible for the absorption of food after digestion into the body.

Irregular surfaces on the corrugated tube represent the villi. They are tiny hair-like structures that are in the small intestine, that are responsible for the absorption of food into the bloodstream.

The pump represents the heart. The heart is the only organ in the body that provides the pressure force that pushes the blood throughout the body. In this model, the pump will most likely be performing the same function.

The plastic tubings are meant to contain one form of fluid or the other. Judging from that, they can be said to represent the blood vessels. This is because they are connected to the heart and are meant to transport bodily fluids around the body
