Pretending that each option of a multiple choice question is actually a true-false question is a legitimate test taking strategy because it aids in the process of elimination- helping one to distinguish the correct answer.
This strategy is legitimate and may eventually help the student to eliminate some of the answers. However, this will not necessarily be efficient, since some answers are not easily eliminated, for example if they are numerical answers in math questions.
However, the legitimacy of the strategy is undeniable. It is important that the student has knowledge and one or more strategies for responding to a multiple choice test.
