"How Smart is Smart" by Dorothy hinshaw summarized
lina2011 [118]

This question is incomplete. Here's the complete question.

Read How smart are animals?  by Dorothy Hinshaw Patent

Summarize the section "How Smart is Smart"

Answer:

When Andrea Anderson was saved by Villa, her neighbors' dog, after she got stuck in a snowdrift, many were impressed because Villa not only understood that Andrea needed help but also was able to complete the tasks required to do so. Villa´s bravery and intelligence got her the 1983 Ken-L Ration Dog Hero of the year.

Although until the 1960s scientists who specialized in animal behavior thought that animals could only act by instinct, not because of their intelligence, by the time Hinshaw's book was written the mental abilities of animals were considered better than previously believed.

Explanation:

Hinshaw is a scientist who specialized in animals and a writer of nature books for children. In this book, she debates whether or not animals can think and show signs of intelligence.
