Answer: Transformation

Explanation: The DNA of interest is taken and first inserted into an organismal genome, like bacterial plasmid or some vector etc. This leads to the formation of Recombinant DNA which is then placed into the host cell which can be a bacteria cell. Hence Transformation or genetic alteration occurs by the insertion, uptake, incorporation of the Recombinant DNA into the new host cell.
