Stem cells are the cells that can convert into any specific type of cell by dividing it repeatedly. So stem cells are unspecialized and can give rise to specialized cells.
As they can divide repeatedly and give rise to a specialized type of cell they allow the body to heal, repair and grow. There are different types of stem cell like induced pluripotent cell, adult stem cell, an embryonic stem cell.
