Answer:

The expression is, (m+10)^{2}=m^{2} + 20m+100.

Step-by-step explanation:

The statement is: “the square of the total of m and 10”

First consider the second part of the statement, i.e. "total of <em>m</em> and 10"

So, the total of m and 10 is: (m+10)

Now, take the square of the above expression as follows:

(m+10)^{2}

Thus, the expression for the statement “the square of the total of m and 10” is (m+10)^{2}.

On expanding this expression the resultant expression is:

(m+10)^{2}=(m)^{2} + (2\times m\times10)+(10)^{2}\\=m^{2} + 20m+100

"total" means "sum" more or less, so the total of m and 10 is m+10

The square of this is (m+10)^2

----------------------

If you want to expand this out, then you would get

(m+10)^2 = (m+10)(m+10)

(m+10)^2 = A(m+10) ... let A = m+10

(m+10)^2 = A*m + A*10

(m+10)^2 = m(A) + 10(A)

(m+10)^2 = m(m+10) + 10(m+10) .... plug in A = m+10

(m+10)^2 = m^2+10m+10m+100

(m+10)^2 = m^2+20m+100

You can skip 4 in that equation and you'll be left with 2x+12=0, which gives you 2x=-12 and finally, x=-6

What does the degree of a polynomial tell you about its related polynomial function?
sergiy2304 [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

An expression which contains coefficients, variables, non-negative integer exponents and constants is known as a polynomial.

For example,  x^{2} - 5x + 4 is a polynomial

where    coefficient of x^{2} = 1

              coefficient of x = -5

               constant = 4

              variable = x

and       exponent = 2

Degree of a polynomial is the highest power of variable in an expression.

In the above example, that is, x^{2} - 5x + 4 has a highest power of 2.

Degree of a polynomial tells about the number of roots a polynomial will have. Thus, we can conclude that x^{2} - 5x + 4 has degree 2 which means it will have 2 roots.

A polynomial with degree 3 with have 3 roots, a polynomial with degree 4 with have 4 roots, and so on. A degree will always be a non-negative integer.
