Answer:

a) The sequence is geometric

b) t_n=5\times \left (\frac{8}{5} \right )^{n-1}

c)  Seventh term = 83.88608

Step-by-step explanation:

If it is an arithmetic progression common difference will be same,

       8 - 5 = 3

        12.8 - 8 = 4.8

Since common difference is not same the numbers are not arithmetic.

If it is an geometric progression common ration will be same,

                \frac{8}{5}\\\\\frac{12.8}{8}=\frac{8}{5}\\\\\frac{20.48}{12.8}=\frac{8}{5}

Since common ratio is same the numbers are geometric.

b) General term of GP is given by

                    t_n=ar^{n-1}=5\times \left (\frac{8}{5} \right )^{n-1}\\\\t_n=5\times \left (\frac{8}{5} \right )^{n-1}

c) Seventh term means n = 7

               t_7=5\times \left (\frac{8}{5} \right )^{7-1}=5\times \left (\frac{8}{5} \right )^{6}=83.88608

          Seventh term = 83.88608

A ball is thrown from first base to second base and then from second base to home plate. How many feet has the ball been thrown?
RSB [31]

Answer:

B. 90 + 90 √2

Step-by-step explanation:

From first base to the second base, it will travel 90 feet.

From the second base to the home plate, it will travel a longer distance.  How much?  Well, if you look at the layout of the field, you'll see that if you draw a line from second base to the home plate, you'll form two rectangular triangles, one with the 1st base, another one with the 3rd base.

The line from the 2nd base to home plate is the hypotenuse, which we can easily find by:

h²=90² + 90²

h = √(2 * 90²)

h = 90 √2

So, from second base to home plate, the ball has traveled 90 √2

Overall: 90 + 90 √2
