  • America had better economic opportunities (jobs). In other countries, some immigrants didn't have the skills to hold jobs or there weren't enough jobs available to meet the countries' needs.
  • America has freedom of speech, religion, etc. Many immigrants were oppressed by their home country because of their religion or political views, where they could come to the US and they were granted the freedom to express their ideas without punishment.  
  • Opportunities to own your own land. Some immigrants weren't able to have any economic power in their home countries, so America's land opportunity was very appealing.
