Let us suppose missing term is y

so it becomes - ( x-1) + 5 = 2 ( x+3) - y

let us now try solving it for x ( in terms of y )

-x + 1 + 5 = = 2x + 6 - y

-x + 6 = 2x + 6 -y

6 + y = 2x + 6 +x

y = 3x

y / 3 = x

but x is given to be infinite . let us try placing y= the given options

x= x/3 which is not possible

x= 3x/3 which is giving valid statement

x= 1/3 which is a finite value

x= 5/3 again a finite value

so it is only y= 3x which could be the answer

Answer : option second that is 3x

3. what is the algebraic expression for the following word phrase : the product of 2 more than y and 7?
Airida [17]

Hi there!

Let me know if you have questions about my answer:

3. c. 7+(y+2)

4. a. 1/14

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Question 3</u>:

The word phrase is: "the product of 2 more than y and 7".

Let's break down each part of the phrase.

"y and 7" is a way of showing addition.

y + 7

"Product" means the answer to a multiplication question. If you multiply more than one term, you can put a bracket around them and write the factor on the outside.

"Product of 2" means 2 is multiplied.

Therefore, the answer is 2(y + 7).

<u>Question 4</u>:

\sqrt{\frac{1}{196} }

Apply the square root to both the numerator (top number) and denominator (bottom number).

= \frac{\sqrt{1} }{\sqrt{196} }

Solve for the square root of 1.

= \frac{1}{\sqrt{196} }

Solve for the square root of 14.

= \frac{1}{14}                      Final answer

I hope this helps! Check out this problem to learn more about these topics:
