Spontaneous generation is possible under right conditions

Explanation:

According to theory of spontaneous generation living organisms could originate from non living matter for example mice from corn, maggots from meat etc. Redi worked to disprove the theory of spontaneous generation. He placed meat in two containers and covered only one with a gauze. Maggots were observed only in the uncovered container. So non living matter could not produce living matter and they had to come from an external source.

John Needham believed that Redi did not provide right conditions in his experiment hence he could not observe maggots in the second container. He boiled some broth to kill all preexisting microbes, filled a bottle with it and sealed it. Despite that he observed living organisms some days later in broth and concluded that life can actually originate from non living things. In reality, he did not boil the broth enough to kill all the preexisting microorganisms.
