Answer:

11 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume = lwh

572= 4*13*h

572=52*h

Divide both sides by 52

11=h

52= 13*4*11

Part 2 Directions: Solve the matrix equation for "X" and "y" 5 - 2x 6 1 -8 + 2 -8 4. - 13 -13
Karolina [17]

Answer:

The value of x=9 and value of y= -7

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to solve the matrix equation for x and y

We are given:

\left[\begin{array}{cc}-2x&6\\1&-8\\\end{array}\right] +2\left[\begin{array}{cc}5&-1\\y&6\\\end{array}\right] =\left[\begin{array}{cc}-8&4\\-13&-13\\\end{array}\right]

First multiply 2 with terms inside the matrix

\left[\begin{array}{cc}-2x&6\\1&-8\\\end{array}\right] +\left[\begin{array}{cc}10&-2\\2y&12\\\end{array}\right] =\left[\begin{array}{cc}-8&4\\-13&-13\\\end{array}\right]

Now adding matrices on left side

\left[\begin{array}{cc}-2x+10&6-2\\1+2y&-8+12\\\end{array}\right] =\left[\begin{array}{cc}-8&4\\-13&-13\\\end{array}\right]\\\left[\begin{array}{cc}-2x+10&4\\1+2y&4\\\end{array}\right] =\left[\begin{array}{cc}-8&4\\-13&-13\\\end{array}\right]

Now both sides are equal , so we can say that

-2x+10=-8 \ and \ 1+2y=-13

Solving equations and finding values of x and y

Finding value of x

-2x+10=-8 \\-2x=-8-10\\-2x=-18\\x=\frac{-18}{-2}\\x=9

Finding value of y

1+2y=-13\\2y=-13-1\\2y=-14\\y=\frac{-14}{2}\\y=-7

So, value of x=9 and value of y= -7

What is 7/9 written as a decimal please explain!!
IrinaK [193]
7/9 as a decimal is 0.777.

7/9 is basically saying 7 divided by 9.
 Since 9 doesn't at all go into 7, we have to make a decimal using long division.
So because a decimal isn't a whole number, we put 0.(blank) at the top in place of the regular number.
After, you just continue with the regular long division, but every time the divisor doesn't go into the number from the subtraction, you bring down a zero.

Sorry if this was kind of confusing!
Just watch a video on it if this didn't help.

Find the composite functions (f ∘ g) and (g ∘ f). what is the domain of each composite function? \[ \begin{array}{rcl} f(x) &amp
Burka [1]

Always remember two steps while finding the domain of composite function.

1) <em>First find the domain of inside/ input function( A common mistake is to skip this point).</em>

2) <em>Find the domain of new function after performing the composition.</em>

In our case, the given functions are

f(x)=\frac{3}{x} , g(x)= x^{2} -81

Now,

1) (f ° g)(x)

= f[g(x)]

=f[x²-81]

= \frac{3}{x^{2}-81} (this is (f ° g)(x) function)

Now, its domain

First find the domain of input function which is x²-81, its domain is the set of all real numbers.

domain of new function after performing composition which is \frac{3}{x^{2}-81}.

x²-81=0 ⇒ (x-9)(x+9)=0

(x-9)=0 , (x+9)=0

x=9 , x=-9 (exclude these points from the domain because anything/0 does not exist in math)

So, the Domain of Composite function (f °g)(x) is the set of all real numbers except x=9, x=-9.

Domain= (-infinity, -9)U(-9, 9)U(9, infinity)

2) (g °f)(x)

= g[f(x)]

= g[3/x]

= (3/x)² -81

= 9/x² -81

=\frac{9-81x^{2}}{x^{2}}

First find the domain of input function 3/x which is set of all real numbers except x=0

\frac{9-81x^{2}}{x^{2}}

Domain of above function after performing composition is set of all real numbers except x=0

So, the domain of (g° f)(x) is the set of all real numbers except x=0.

Domain= (-infinity, 0)U(0, infinity)
