Interpretation of law is the process or art of determining the intended and exact meaning of a law as per the constitution of the nation. Courts generally interpret the laws by clarifying or explaining the meaning of it.
In ancient Rome, Praetors are appointed to interpret the law and act as court judges. Praetors were the magistrates with imperium within their own sphere, who are subjected only to the veto of the consuls (the member who outranked the praetor).
Imperium was the form of authority that is held by a citizen in order to control governmental entity or a military force.
