The growth in suburban homes grew dramatically in the 1950´s. William Levitt, a Long Island building contractor, revolutionized the housing market by an extensive use of techniques of mass production in the construction of houses.  These methods made the housing projects very affordable and soon many developments using these techniques arised, to the point that at the time they were called "Levittowns".

William Levitt revolutionized the housing market by creating thousands of standardized homes.

These Levittowns were revolutionary in the sense that they helped spark the growth of the suburbs within the US. William Levitt used his knowledge of building military style housing to apply to normal homes. He used mass production methods which brought the workers out to the site where they were making the homes and had all the materials necessary on site. In one day, Levitt's workers could frame out and build almost 30 homes.

Answer:

pretty sure it was large, whether or not it was ill prepared to fight is up for debate. It's been a few years since I revised this, but I'm pretty sure that during the Schleiffen plan the German army relied on the Russians being too slow to defend themselves, however they were quicker than expected? due to this and the sheer size of the army itself I would say d, large and well prepared to fight. They were large enough that even if they were awful in combat they would still be a force to be reckoned with, as they could afford to supply men after men without running out, unlike the German army.

andriy [413]

Answer:

Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act

Explanation:

Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act is also known as US Tariff Act of 1930. It was a legislation to raise the import duties so the American farmers and businesses could be protected.  The legislation got its name from Willis Hawley of Oregon and Reed Smoot of Utah.

Smoot was a senator from Utah and chairman of the Senate Finance Committee while Hawley was chariman of House Ways and Means committee. It was most harsh protectionist tariff in the country's history and raised the import tax by 40 percent.

It was done because American farmers were facing declining prices and competition after first world war during 1920s and the government wanted to improve their situation.  The legislation was passed by narrow margin(44-42) and president Hoover signed the bill on June 17, 1930 and it became a law.
