North China Plain:

- prone to both floods and drought

- at the intersection of humid winds from the pacific and dry winds from the interior of the asian continent

- based on the deposits of the Yellow River

- largest alluvial plain of eastern asia

- also called the land of Yellow Earth

East China Sea:

- part of the pacific ocean

- the east china sea and the south china sea make up the china sea

- largely shallow

- almost 3/4 of the sea is less than 650 feet

- a small amount of china’s oil and natural gas production comes from offshore wells in the east china sea

- main shipping route from the South China Sea to Japanese and other North Pacific ports
