An ethnic enclave is a term used in sociology that describes an area with a high concentration of people from a different ethnicity to that of the home country. An example would be a "Chinatown" located outside of China. This is an area where many Chinese immigrants and citizens of Chinese heritage live. These develop because of the social and economic advantages for immigrants of settling in areas where a large immigrant population can already be found.
