Describe three ways that urbanization could affect land and aquatic ecosystems around cities?

Biology
1 answer:
Vadim26 [7]3 years ago
7 0

Urbanization increases local greenhouse gases hence the local greenhouse effect increases the temperatures of the region. This way, the balance of land and aquatic ecosystems are upset. Different species populations may be affected differently.

All the concrete and tarmac on ground reduces the percolation rate of water in the soil and increases runoffs. This results to a lower the water table and increases erosion.

Urbanization leads to clearing of land and draining of wetlands for structures, This destroyed the habitat of species in the process hence displacing organisms.

How is a carrier shown in a pedigree?
liraira [26]

Answer: Pedigrees can show someone is a carrier for diseases by determining which parent, if not both, is either dominant or recessive. Each child must have a letter from their parent then that will determine if someone gets a disease or not then it goes on from generation to generation. However, they can be carriers of the trait, and if they are carriers, their male children will be colorblind. On a pedigree, carriers are represented either by a half-shaded symbol or a shaded dot in the middle of the symbol. brainliest??

How are ocean ridges and trenches related? Describe their relationship in
True [87]

Terms that are asked to be used in the response are bolded;

Ocean ridges and trenches are related in a few ways. One of the ways is being created from the movement of tectonic plates on the mantle when they diverge and converge. When tectonic plates diverge they "pull apart" and create trenches. When they converge they "push together" and create ridges, subduction happens here. The tectonic plates move on the mantle of magna from convection currents creating these different boundaries.

What are the negative consequences of improper disposal of electronic waste?
Gre4nikov [31]

Answer:

1) Increased probability of hazardous chemical contamination.

2) Air, water, and soil pollution.

3) Mortality in both terrestrial and aquatic organisms.

4) Development of diseases in humans.

Explanation:

The improper disposal of electronic waste can have detrimental consequences for the environment and, as a result, to all living beings including humans.

If electronic waste is thrown away in an open area, it warms up and releases hazardous chemicals that are detrimental for the health of living beings. This occurs because electronic objects contain toxic chemicals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, amongst others.

These chemicals will eventually enter both soil and water, harming thousands to millions of terrestrial and aquatic organisms. Moreover, these chemicals will enter the food chain and, as humans consume these affected organisms, we are also affected in numerous ways. For example, ingesting these chemicals could cause reproductive issues, damage to both the nervous and digestive systems, the development of cancer, etc.
