Volume = mass divided by density.

You are given the mass and density for the smaller cube so you can calculate it's volume:

Volume = 20  / 7.87 = 2.541 cubic cm's.

Now you are told the larger cube has 2 times the volume:

Volume of larger cube = 2.541 x 2 = 5.08 cubic cm's.

Find the equation of the axis of symmetry and the coordinates of the vertex of the graph of the function y = –2x^2 +6x – 1.
ki77a [65]
Hello :
<span>y = –2x² +6x – 1.
 y = -2(x²-3x)-1
y= -2( x² -2(3/2)x +(3/2)² - </span>(3/2)²)-1
y = -2((x-3/2)² -9/4))-1
y = -2(x-3/2)² +7/2
the <span>axis of symmetry is the line : x = 3/2 and vertex : (3/2 , 7/2 ) </span>

Determine if the function f(x)=x+4 is increasing or decreasing on the interval of 2≤x≤5. Justify your answer.
Rudik [331]

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

The function is f(x)=x+4

for x_2>x_1, we will check the values of f(x_1) and f(x_2)

Take 3 and 4

f(4)=4+4\\f(4)=8

Similarly,

f(3)=3+4\\f(3)=7

Thus, f(4)>f(3)

Also, f'(x) is 1 i.e. a constant value. So, the function is increasing linearly for the given interval.

An elevator descends into mine shaft at the rate of 6m/min. If the descend starts from 10m above the ground level , how long wil
AnnyKZ [126]

Answer: Hi!

So first, I'm going to convert "350 below ground level" to -350, as this is what "below ground level" represents.

Now, we should find the total distance traveled. Take the absolute value of -350 (350) and add it to 10, the metres above ground level. This is 360.

We already know the rate of travel; 6m/min. All we have to do now is divide the total distance (360) by the rate of travel (6)!

360 ÷ 6 = 60

So, it took 60 minutes, or one hour, for the elevator to travel down the shaft!

Hope this helps!
