What are the major differences between ancient California and Mesopotamia?
Gnesinka [82]

First, Mesopotamia was blessed with especially rich soil. Diverse elevations  (there are both high hills and low‐lying marshlands) and climatic variations in the region allowed for the evolution of many types of edible seeds and plants, as well as a variety of farm animals. California did not have it as easy as Mesopotamia did — it had several geographical disadvantages to conquer before its advantages could really shine.

Second, while the great city of Babylon was thriving in Mesopotamia in 3100 B.C., California remained rather insignificant as a trade or cultural center. It was inhabited by nomadic tribes who lived a hunter‐gatherer lifestyle.

Lastly, there was a speedy input of goods and knowledge via the waterways built across Mesopotamia. This was a distinct advantage of the area over competing regions, and allowed their economic and cultural life to flourish.

Describe the power to pick a president
34kurt
The power to "pick" the president is in the hands of the electoral college, which has over 500 members, and whose only function is to elect the president (and vice-president.)

The electoral college should, but is not obliged to, vote according to the popular vote in the state, and also usually choose to give all votes to the winning candidate. There have been very few instances of electors voting against the expectations of the voters.

How do attachments to the "fruits of desire" bind one to the cycle of samsara and the "problem" of Hinduism?
Ostrovityanka [42]

Answer:

A person should never be passionately attached to the fruits of desire or else he will be enslaved. So, when he cannot satisfy his desire, he will become angry and in this way, <u>his soul will be concealed and his intelligent-will will be destroyed.</u> His soul will then become<em> inactive.</em>

Explanation:

"Reincarnation" refers to a soul's rebirth into a new body. This involves a process called <em>"samsara," </em>which is a<em> cycle of death and rebirth.</em>

As people live through life's different stages, they encounter certain desires. In Hinduism, such desires are normal and should<u> never be suppressed.</u> They should, however, be fulfilled through fair play and prudence. The "fruits of desire" can only be achieved if the person pursues his desire <u>without greed.</u> In this way, he'll be able to enjoy the fruits of desire.

What was the main concern with the first draft of the Articles of Confederation?
mixas84 [53]
The first draft of the Articles of Confederation allowed each individual states' governments to have power. The purpose was to help everyone be happy and recover from the abuse of the British government. However, because the central government was rather weak, it lacked the power to enforce laws, impose taxes, etc., creating a rather huge problem for the states.

Hope this helps a lot! :)
