Answer:

x = - 7

Step-by-step explanation:

12 = 5x - 13x - 44

13x - 5x = - 44 - 12

8x = - 56

x = - 56 : 8

x = - 7

So you need to isolate/get the variable "x" by itself in the equation:

12 = 5x - 13x - 44    First combine like terms (5x - 13x)

12 = -8x - 44    Add 44 on both sides

12 + 44 = -8x - 44 + 44

56 = -8x Divide -8 on both sides to get "x" by itself

\frac{56}{-8} =\frac{-8x}{-8}

-7 = x

A circular pond has a diameter of 17 feet. There is pathway around the rim of the pond. What is the length of the pathway?
NeX [460]

Answer:

53.38ft

Step-by-step explanation:

By it asking the length of the pathway, in math terms its just asking you the circumfrence of the pond.

C = 2(\pi)(r)

C = 2(3.14)(17/2)

C = 2(3.14)(8.5)

C = 53.38ft

The delivery person weighs 150lb and each box of books weigh 40lb the maximum capacity of the elevator is 1020lb how many box of
padilas [110]

Answer:

21 box of books can be brought up by the delivery person at one time

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we want to know the number of box of books that the delivery person could bring up at one time.

Let the number of boxes be x , so the total mass of the boxes that could come up at a time will be x * 40 = 40x lb

Let’s add this to the mass of the delivery person = 150 lb

So the total mass going inside the lift would be 150 + 40x

So we have to equate this to the maximum capacity of the lift;

150 + 40x = 1020

40x = 1020 - 150

40x = 870

x = 870/40

x = 21.75

Now since we cannot have fractional boxes, the number of boxes that could come into the lift without exceeding the maximum capacity of the lift is 21

A company makes steel rods shaped like cylinders. Each rod has a radius of 2 centimeters and height of 60 centimeters. How much
Elanso [62]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The idea is to find out how much steel it takes to make 1 rod, then multiply that amount by 192. The amount of steel in a rod is found in the volume of steel in each rod. The formula for the volume of a cylinder is

V=\pi r^2h

For us this formula looks like this:

V=\pi (4)(60) which, in terms of pi, is 240π. That's not a very useful measure, so rounded to the nearest whole number, each rod take 754 cubic centimeters of steel. Multiply that by 192 and you get that you need

144,768 cubic centimeters of steel to make 192 rods of that size.
