4x – 2 + x = 3x + 8 + 3x

Answer:

-10 = x

Step-by-step explanation:

1) combine all like terms

bring 4x and "x" to the right side to combine them

if we do this they will become negative

so

-2=3x+8+3x-4x-x

now bring "8" to the left side if we do this 8 will become negative

-8-2=3x+3x-4x-x

now we can combine like terms

-10=6x-5x

-10=x

Hope this helps!

4x – 2 + x = 3x + 8 + 3x

Combine like terms:

4x+x-2=3x+3x+8

5x-2=6x+8

Move 6x to the other side. Sign changes from +6x to -6x.

5x-6x-2=6x-6x+8

5x-6x-2=8

-x-2=8

Move -2 to the other side.

-x-2+2=8+2

-x=10

Multiply both sides by -1.

(-1)(-x)=(10)(-1)

x=-10

Two functions are represented below. Which function has a domain that contains the domain of the other function as a
Nikitich [7]

Answer:

\\ h(x) = x-2\;contains\;the\;domain\;of\;function\;f(x) = -log(x-2)-3

Step-by-step explanation:

The domain of a function contains all possible values that it can take.

We can analyze the function:

\\ f(x) = -log(x-2)-3 [1]

And we can see that there are three functions in [1]:

h(x) = x-2 and g(x) = -log(x) - 3, and

\\ f(x) = g(h(x)) or \\ f(x) = -log(x-2)-3.

This operation is called <em>function composition</em>.<em> </em>

For every <em>x</em>, function <em>h(x)</em> can take any value, so the domain (all possible values this function can take) is \\ -\infty\;to\;\infty (all real numbers).

However, function <em>g(x)</em> is restricted to <em>positive values</em> only, since <em>log</em> function is <em>not</em> defined for <em>negative numbers</em> and 0.

Therefore, domain for <em>f(x)</em> are <em>restricted</em> to those ones that comply with the above restriction (x > 0). So, for

\\ f(x) = -log(x-2) - 3

Possible values are those which:

\\ x - 2 > 0 or \\ x > 2

In words, the domain of <em>f(x)</em> are all values greater than 2 (but not equal to 2) or all positive real values greater than 2.

Then, the function <em>f(x)</em> has a domain that is a <em>subset</em> of function <em>h(x)</em>, that is, in function <em>h(x) = </em>x - 2, <em>x</em> can takes any possible value from -(<em>infinity</em>) to <em>infinity</em>, whereas function <em>f(x)</em> can <em>only</em> takes those values greater than two (but not equal 2) to <em>infinity</em>, which makes the domain of <em>f(x)</em>  a subset of the possible values of function <em>h(x)</em>.

Hallamos precios justos empleando funciones cuadráticas (día 3)
lidiya [134]

Answer:

1. See below

2. F(x) = -0.10x² + 8x + 200

3. You earn the maximum income of S/320

4. The income decreases

5. x < 0; x > 100

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Strategies

            Let x = the days

Then 100 - x = the kilograms of oranges each day

     and 0.10x = the daily price increase

and 2 + 0.10x = the daily price

Income = (kilograms of oranges) × (price per kilogram)

F(x)= (100 - x)(2 + 0.10x)

2. Another expression for F(x)

You could multiply the factors to get a polynomial in its standard form.

\begin{array}{rcl}F(x) & = & (100 - x)(2 + 0.10x)\\& = & 200 + 8x - 0.10x^{2}\\& = &\mathbf{ -0.10x^{2} + 8x + 200}\\\end{array}

3. If sales are made in 20 da

\begin{array}{rcl}F(x) & = & (100 - x)(2 + 0.10x)\\& = & (100 - 20)(2 + 0.10\times20)\\& = & 80(2 + 2.0)\\& = &80 \times 4\\&=&\textbf{S/320}\\\end{array}\\\text{Sales made on Day 20 will earn the maximum income of } \textbf{S/320}

4. If sales are made after 40 da

(a) If sales are made on Day 40

\begin{array}{rcl}F(x) & = & (100 - x)(2 + 0.10x)\\F(x) & = & (100 - 40)(2 + 0.10\times40)\\& = & 60(2 + 4.0)\\& = &60 \times 6\\&=&\textbf{S/360}\\\end{array}\\

(b) If sales are made on Day 41

\begin{array}{rcl}F(x) & = & (100 - 41)(2 + 0.10\times41)\\& = & 59(2 + 4.1)\\& = &59 \times 6.1\\&=&\textbf{S/359.90}\\\end{array}\\\text{The \textbf{income decreases} after Day 40.}

5. Unuseful parts of the graph

(a) x <0

We can't have negative times because we received the oranges for sale only on Day 0.

(b) x > 100

1 kg of oranges is damaged each day.

After 100 da, there are no more oranges to sell.

The parts of the graph below x = 0 and above x = 100 do not contribute to resolution of the problem.

Round to the nearest hundreds place<br> Show your work<br> 4x = 7 - 8x - 27
faltersainse [42]

Answer:

x = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

4x = 7 - 8x - 27

1) Combine like terms (7 and -27). So, 7 + (-27) = -20.

        4x = 8x - 20

2) Subtract 8x from both sides of the equation. So, 4x - 8x = -4x.

        -4x = -20

3) Divide both sides by -4. So, -20 / -4 = 5.

        x = 5
