Answer:

3:17 (ointement:diluent)

Explanation:

Let's assume the production of 1L = 1,000 mL of the 3% zinc oxide ointment. A sample of the 20% ointment must be taken and then diluted, and so the concentration will change, but the mass will remain constant. The mass is the concentration (C) multiplied by the volume (V), thus if 1 is the 20% ointment, and 2 the diluted:

C1*V1 = C2*V2

C1 = 20%

V1 = ?

C2 = 3%

V2 = 1,000 mL

20V1 = 3*1000

V1 = 150 mL

Thus, it's necessary 150 mL of the ointment and 850 mL (1,000 - 150) of the white petrolatum. The proportion is the ratio between the two substances:

150/850 = 15/85 = 3/17

Thus, they will be mixed in the proportion of 3:17 (ointment:diluent).

Make notes on why did the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere decrease?
kykrilka [37]

Answer:

Carbon dioxide is a very soluble gas. It dissolves readily in water. As the oceans formed, carbon dioxide dissolved to form soluble carbonate compounds so its amount in the atmosphere decreased. Carbonate compounds were then precipitated as sedimentary rocks, eg limestone.

Uptake by living organisms

Carbon dioxide was also absorbed from the oceans into photosynthetic algae and plants. Many of these organisms, and the simple organisms in the food chains that they supported were turned into fossil fuels, eg crude oil, coal and natural gas, which all contain carbon.

Coal is a fossil fuel which was formed from trees which were in dense forests in low-lying wetland areas. Flooding caused the wood from these forests to be buried in a way that prevented oxidation taking place. Compression and heating over millions of years turned the wood into coal.

Crude oil and natural gas were formed from simple plants and tiny animals which were living in oceans and lakes. These small organisms died and their remains sank to the bottom where they were buried under sediments. The lack of oxygen prevented oxidation from occurring.

Over millions of years, heat and pressure turned the remains of the organisms into crude oil and natural gas. Natural gas contains the smallest molecules and is often found on top of crude oil, trapped under sedimentary rock.

Hope this helps..Pls mark as Brainliest!!

Properties of a substance which can be measured or observed without altering the identity of the substance being measured are __
rosijanka [135]

Answer:

The correct answer is physical properties and/or phase properties.

Explanation:

Chemical properties can alter the substance (if you burn wood, it becomes ash and is no longer wood).

Reactive properties are also chemically changing the substance.

Phase properties are where the element can be in solid, liquid, or gas form so these could also be an answer.

The average blood volume in the human body is about 4.9 L. Convert this volume to cubic centimeters (cm3).a. milliliters (mL)b.
CaHeK987 [17]

Answer:

a. 4900 mL; b. 4900 cm³ c. 4.9x10⁻³  m³

Explanation:

1 L = 1 dm³

4.9 L = 4.9 dm³

1 dm³ = 1000 cm³  → 4900 cm³

1 cm³ = 1 mL  (4900 mL)

1 dm³ = 1x10⁻³ m³ → 4.9x10⁻³  m³
