Algae are the basis of food and the only form of food) for many aquatic organisms, and can also be used in human food, since it is rich in minerals, such as Calcium, Iron and Iodine, proteins, carbohydrates and vitamin A. In addition, algae are responsible for autotrophs, that is, they perform photosynthesis and are responsible for a large part of the oxygen present in the atmosphere and thus proving that we humans are dependent on this organism.

One way to study and define the importance of marine algae in an ecosystem is the organisms that depend on them as an energy source, that is, they feed solely or preferably on marine algae.
