I do not agree because 3/4 is greater than 2/3 so you can not do 3/4-2/3

) Find the coordinates of the point A' which is the symmetric point
soldier1979 [14.2K]

Let, coordinate of point A' is (x,y).

Since, A' is the symmetric point  A(3, 2) with respect to the line 2x + y - 12 = 0.

So, slope of line containing A and A' will be perpendicular to the line 2x + y - 12 = 0 and also their center lies in the line too.

Now, their center is given by :

C( \dfrac{x+3}{2}, \dfrac{y+2}{2})

Also, product of slope will be -1 .( Since, they are parallel )

\dfrac{y-2}{x-3} \times -2  = -1\\\\2y - 4 = x - 3\\\\2y - x = 1

x = 2y - 1

So, C( \dfrac{2y -1 +3}{2}, \dfrac{y+2}{2})\\\\C( \dfrac{2y + 2}{2}, \dfrac{y+2}{2})

Also, C satisfy given line :

2\times ( \dfrac{2y + 2}{2})  + \dfrac{y+2}{2} = 12\\\\4y + 4 + y + 2 = 24\\\\5y = 18\\\\y = \dfrac{18}{5}

Also,

x = 2\times \dfrac{18}{5 } - 1\\\\x = \dfrac{31}{5}

Therefore, the symmetric points isA'(\dfrac{31}{5}, \dfrac{18}{5}) .

A sundae at an ice-cream shop costs $3, and each extra ounce of toppings costs
anyanavicka [17]

Answer:

The number of ounce of topping that can be get is 4 .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The cost of a sundae = $3

The cost for each extra ounce of toppings = $0.50

Let The number of ounce of topping = n

The total spending cost on sundae with n extra topping = $5

Now, According to question

The total spending cost on sundae with n extra topping = The cost of a sundae + The number of ounce of topping × The cost for each extra ounce of toppings

Or , $3 + n × $0.50 = $5

or, 3 + 0.50 n = 5

or , 0.50 n = 5 - 3

or, 0.50 n = 2

∴  n = \dfrac{2}{0.50}

I.e n = 4

So, The number of ounce of topping = n = 4

Hence The number of ounce of topping that can be get is 4 . Answer

Stereo speakers are manufactured with a probability of 0.100.10 being defective. TwentyTwenty speakers are randomly selected. Le
olga nikolaevna [1]

Answer:

The expected value of X is 2 with a standard deviation of 1.34.

Step-by-step explanation:

For each speaker, there are only two possible outcomes. Either it is defective, or it is not. The probability of a speaker being defective is independent of other speakers. So we use the binomial probability distribution to solve this question.

Binomial probability distribution

Probability of exactly x sucesses on n repeated trials, with p probability.

The expected value of the binomial distribution is:

E(X) = np

The standard deviation of the binomial distribution is:

\sqrt{V(X)} = \sqrt{np(1-p)}

Stereo speakers are manufactured with a probability of 0.1 of being defective

This means that p = 0.1

Twenty speakers are randomly selected.

This means that n = 20

Let the random variable X be defined as the number of defective speakers. Find the expected value and the standard deviation.

E(X) = np = 20*0.1 = 2

\sqrt{V(X)} = \sqrt{np(1-p)} = \sqrt{20*0.1*0.9} = 1.34

The expected value of X is 2 with a standard deviation of 1.34.

AB and CD with M as the midpoint of both AB and CD AB = 6.4 cm and CD = 4.0 cm , A,B and C are not collinear…. Help !
loris [4]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  see attached

Step-by-step explanation:

Apparently, you just need to draw a picture. This works well if you start with graph paper that is graduated in millimeters.

Of course, with a compass and ruler, you don't need graph paper. The lines don't need to be at right angles, either.
