The father of Jennifers child was also carrying the recessive allele for TSD, if we label the dominant A and the recessive(disease allele) it becomes clear. Jennifer will be a heterozygous Aa, carrying the allele for the disease but as she is heterozygous the allele is not expressed. Likewise the father of her children is Aa. Thus there is a 25% chance of and offspring inheriting both recessive alleles from mother and father and thus expressing the disease. This is a prime example of how recessive traits can go many generations before expressing themselves.

Which of the following is the adaptation that allows animals to survive in high altitudes, which contain lower levels of oxygen?
kaheart [24]

The correct answer is option b. higher levels of hemoglobin.

The partial pressure of the oxygen decrease as the height from the sea level is increased. Due to the decrease in the partial pressure, the amount of the oxygen delivered by the hemoglobin to cell decrease. So, in order to cope up the condition, the amount of the hemoglobin in the blood is increased. the increased amount of the hemoglobin delivers more oxygen than the normal amount of hemoglobin can do, so, it help in survival at low oxygen levels.

How can the starch test show that food has been prepared bin the leaf?
MAVERICK [17]
Starch/glucose is the food prepared during photosynthesis. if a plant has photosynthesised, it means it has produced its products. you can check this by doing the starch test. boil the leaf which will kill the cells and then dip it in ethanol to extract the green colour. then add the iodine. if the leaf turns blue/black after adding the iodine, this means starch is present and starch is the extra glucose produced (product)
