Active- Passive: 1. Whom did you meet? 2.Whom did you give the book? 3. Who called you a list?
Dmitry [639]

Answer:

1. Whom was met by you?

2. To whom was the book given by you? OR Whom was the book given to by you?

3. By who were you called a list?

Explanation:

1. This is more simple. You simply find the verb "meet", determine the tense using the auxiliary verb "did" (past tense); from this you get "met". Then identify the subject ("you"), and string it all together with the passive voice form of questions: object + verb + by + subject, or "Whom was met by you?".

2. For this question, the original active voice question was grammatically wrong: it should be "To whom did you give the book?" or "Whom did you give the book to?" Using the same method mentioned in question 1, you'll get the answer.

3. This is a little different from the other two questions, since it's asking about the identity of the subject, not the object. This means the sentence structure should be similar, but with the subject moved to the start. This could technically be done to all of the questions, but most people use the "object + verb to be + verb + by + subject" form for finding the object.

Anyways, back to the question: the form used should be "by + subject + verb to be + object + verb". This explains the answer.

Sorry if I didn't explain the answers that well

explain why the author felt "safe" in Manitou. how might her perceptions of this place reflect her native american beliefs
Sloan [31]

Answer:

Linda Hogan claimed she felt safe in Manitou for she believes "the underground movement of water and heat [were] a constant reminder of other life, of what lives beneath us, [and that] seemed to be the center of the world".

This place, to her, felt like the perfect amalgamation of the spatial barrier that the native Americans believe as the world of their ancestors. And in her exclamation of this place as the center of the world, she also shows that she holds a belief in the very belief of the native Americans.

Explanation:

Linda Hogan in her book "Dwellings: A Spiritual History of the Living World" talks about the houses we live in, and how they depend on humans to be deemed living spaces. She talks about her lifelong fascination and love for the world, the earth, where we live, delving into the relationship between the spaces that humans dwell in and the rest of nature.

Hogan stated that <em>"she felt safe in Manitou"</em> due to the fact that it reminded her of the<em> "other life, of what lives beneath us"</em>. She mentioned that <em>"with the underground movement of water and heat [...] it seemed to be the center of the world". </em>

This shows that her deep-rooted belief in the native American belief system is reflected in her own sense of comparison between the two spaces, that of humans and nature. She discusses how both spaces are necessary for the healthy psyche of a person and how interconnected the two are.
